Los Angeles Detox Review
Located in the upscale residential and shopping district of Larchmont Village, Los Angeles Detox provides detox and residential treatment in the heart of the City of Angels. LA Detox opened its doors in the fall of 2016 and treats clients in an intimate, comfortable, upscale residence that’s within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and public transportation. With only six clients in residence at one time, LA Detox creates highly customized holistic treatment plans. After residential treatment, clients can elect to continue their recovery at LA Detox’s nearby sober living home.
Accommodations and Food
Clients reside in a well-appointed bungalow with a traditional décor. Bedrooms are shared between at least two clients. The residence also has a TV room, and a physical trainer visits twice each week with equipment for workouts.
While in detox (usually seven to 10 days), clients cannot have electronics and may use phones only under staff supervision. In residential treatment, clients can use personal electronics in moderation.
The home has a private chef who prepares daily meals with clients’ preferences and nutritional needs in mind.
Treatment and Staff
After detox, clients can stay in residential treatment for up to 90 days. Clients are offered evolving customized treatment plans that include group therapy each day and individual therapy at least once a week. Therapy utilizes evidence-based modalities. Groups implement CBT and DBT to help clients develop coping skills and learn alternatives to self-destructive behavior.
LA Detox supports clients’ involvement in AA/NA but doesn’t use 12-step in treatment and is happy to help clients who are resistant to the 12-step framework find alternative sober support networks such as SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery. LA Detox helps clients locate local meetings and provides transportation to them.
The treatment team includes an MFT, CADC, case manager and two physicians—an internist and a psychiatrist. LA Detox’s psychiatrist and MFT provide therapy and medication management for clients in need of dual diagnosis support. Its psychiatrist is also able to prescribe Suboxone for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction. There is also a nurse and behavioral health technicians who provide 24/7 support and supervision.
Extras
LA Detox works with each client to identify interests and goals that will help motivate their recovery. The treatment team facilitates their involvement in experiential therapy, such as art and music therapy and yoga, which is offered weekly.
As they progress in recovery, clients can earn day passes to visit family. The staff takes clients on Saturday excursions, including beach and museum visits. Throughout their stay, the case manager helps clients create an aftercare plan that may include outpatient treatment, sober living, on-going therapy and/or peer support meetings.

Los Angeles Detox’s comfortable, intimate treatment atmosphere allows clients to relax and reflect while in recovery. Its small staff-to-client ratio results in highly customized holistic treatment plans that address each client’s addiction from multiple angles. Clients graduate from residential treatment with new mental, physical and spiritual tools for recovery as well as deep bonds with their fellow residents and counselors.
