The Basics
Located in Hampton Bays, New York, the Long Island Center for Recovery offers outpatient substance abuse treatment services for clients who have either come out of a residential treatment program and need additional support or have made the choice to live at home during their transition into a life of sobriety. This facility provides structured, group or individual therapy programs that employ evidence-based therapy approaches that can serve well as an initial step in treatment or as an aftercare program.
Treatment and Staff
Regardless of where the incoming client is coming from, there is an in-depth assessment process to determine if the programs offered at this facility are a good fit. The most intensive program outpatient program at Long Island Center for Recovery entails two group therapy sessions per week. The least intensive would be one group session weekly, with one monthly individual therapy session provided for both tracks. The programs usually run for about 90 days, though it depends on the client and some to stay for up to six months if needed.
Treatment approaches are offered on a multi-disciplinary level and are tailored to the client’s specific needs. Therapy methods include CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the 12 steps, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention. The client and therapist explore the root cause of the addiction. Effort is made to address past experiences that may be related to trauma or other stressful occurrences that led to the client becoming chemically dependent as a coping mechanism.
The staff of Long Island Center for Recovery offers many years of experience working with clients in the addiction field includes CADCs, CSWs, medical staff and psychologists.
Extras
This facility has specialized outpatient programming and classes for clients who are court ordered to attend DWI treatment in order to satisfy a state requirement to get their drivers licenses back. There are family and couples counseling programs available during both the residential and outpatient tracks as well.

When the founder of Long Island Center for Recovery, Jack Hamilton, opened the inpatient program back in 1995, his intention was to provide a safe place for members of this community to resolve their addiction issues and learn tools for a life of sobriety.
