The Basics

Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois, Locus Therapy Center is an outpatient treatment facility that specializes in the care of adult and adolescent clients struggling with eating disorders, mental conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and OCD as well as personal and familial issues. The private practice of clinical psychologist Dr. Manuel Silverman and clinical counselor Anna Lamden, Locus Therapy Center facilitates an array of therapeutic modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of the client, including evidence-based methods and psychodynamic theory via individual and group therapy, couples therapy and family therapy. Locus primarily offers outpatient therapy services. Neither the 12-step recovery model nor medication management are not components of the programming.

Treatment and Staff

Clients beginning care with Locus undergo a comprehensive health assessment that helps the team customize the most effective treatment strategy tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual. Locus offers outpatient therapy services that can be ideal for clients that either do not require a residential program, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or for individuals transitioning back into regular life from inpatient rehab and in need of the flexible structure that weekly therapy provides. While the frequency and duration of treatment varies depending on the needs, goals and schedule of the client, most individuals typically participate once a week. Individual sessions commonly last 50 minutes, and couples and family therapy between an hour and 90 minutes.

Locus offers a holistic approach to care that integrates a number of therapeutic models including evidence-based methods, humanistic philosophies and psychodynamic therapy to address the individual’s past experience, family dynamics and unconscious content. While evaluating current sources of stress, the team helps clients to develop and utilize new habits and behaviors. The facility offers individual and group therapy as well as couples and familial counseling, all for an array of issues that range from mental illnesses to personal problems such as self-injury, codependency, communication breakdowns and impulse management.

Locus Therapy Center is the private practice of Dr. Manuel S. Silverman, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder and Anna Lamden, a licensed clinical professional counselor with a speciality in DBT.

Extras

Locus also provides support for lesser known conditions like Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).
