The Basics

Living Recovery of Gainesville, Georgia is a Christian based sober living program for men seeking a safe place to learn how to live in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction. It’s also available to those who have had troubles with the law in regards to their substance abuse. This program uses the 12 steps along with a strong faith belief system and the Make-A-Choice curriculum. It encourages individuals to discover all that life has to offer without the burden of having to use substances through the discovery of their Higher Power.

Accommodations and Amenities

The facility is a Cape Cod style, two story single family home that has been divided into a duplex for the clients. The house has three bedrooms that can be shared between three and four other clients for a total of 10 beds, and two bathrooms.

Living Recovery sits on a little under half an acre in a residential neighborhood close to public transportation. Clients are permitted to bring their own cars, cell phones and laptops to the residence. Smoking is not allowed inside the house, but there are places outside that are set up for smokers.

Clients are responsible for buying and preparing their own meals.

Rules and Regulations

The Living Recovery program philosophy is built on the 12 steps along with the idea that clients proceed in recovery with accountability and using the basic principles established in the Bible. Clients study the Big Book during their stay and follow the basic steps of AA/NA. Though this program is Christian based, clients do not have to be Christian, just open to their message. Sunday church attendance is optional. During the three to 12 months on average that clients stay, the program strives to provide a family atmosphere that clients are expected to keep clean, safe and drug free.

There are weekly drug screenings and mandatory on-site meetings held three times a week. After a couple of weeks every clients needs to get a 12-step sponsor and start looking for work. A vocational program aids each clients in finding a suitable job. Clients also have access to volunteer opportunities and continuing education programs.

Clients have to attend a minimum of four community AA meetings every week, and receive progress reports from the house manager, who is on site every day and lives at the residence.

Extras

Since this program is for clients who either come to the decision on their own to be in a sober living facility, or for those who are incarcerated and need a place to live in order to satisfy a court requirement, the staff is able to help those who are currently incarcerated get approved and through the initial stages of admission.
