San Clemente CaliforniaThe Basics

Founded in 2014 in San Clemente, California, Living Grace Sober Living provides a faith-based sober living home for men in recovery from substance abuse. While there are future plans to open a women’s house, presently they only have a house for men. Their belief is that true recovery comes from relying on the Bible, as well as working a 12-step program.

Accommodations and Amenities

The modern-style orange stucco residence is located between beautiful southern California coastal towns of Dana Point and San Clemente. The house includes five bedrooms, two living areas, a spacious fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor living space with fitness equipment. One living room is furnished with contemporary black leather couches, modern style coffee tables and a 55’ flat-screen TV. Wall-to-wall windows provide a view of the outdoor landscape. Living Grace Sober Living accommodates 11 clients who share triple or double-occupancy rooms furnished with full or twin-sized beds. Beds include memory foam mattresses, lush comforters and thick pillows. Single rooms are available for an additional cost. All bedrooms have attached bathrooms with double sinks and contemporary fixtures. Amenities include Wi-Fi, Netflix, Cable, and a balcony with an ocean view.

Clients are responsible for their own groceries and meal preparation. The enormous fully equipped kitchen has sleek wood tiled flooring, a row of sparkling white pantries and a built in microwave oven. House managers, with long-term sobriety, live on the premises.

Rules and Regulations

Potential clients must have completed 30 days of primary care at a drug rehab or have been clean and sober for 30 days in order to be accepted. They must agree to follow a 12-step based protocol, be 18 years and older, and find a job or perform community service. Requirements for residency include attendance at four weekly 12-step or Celebrate Recovery meetings, acquisition and maintenance of employment or volunteer service, performance of household chores and participation in house meetings. Also, residents must find sponsors and work their steps. Random drug and alcohol screenings are conducted. Living Grace Sober Living practices a zero tolerance policy. Those who have relapsed are immediately dismissed from the premises.

Clients seeking aftercare are encouraged to pursue treatment. Typically, residents attend an outpatient program at one of several nearby drug rehabs including Hope by the Sea, Ocean Hills Recovery and Faith by the Sea. At Living Grace Sober Living, residents are offered the option of attending church services at the well-known Orange County megachurch Saddleback Church on Sundays. Staff provides transportation.

Extras

Other services offered at Living Grace include instruction on meditation techniques, Bible studies, time and personal management coaching, and goal setting support.

Living Grace Sober Living is a member of the Sober Living Network, Orange County Sober Living Coalition.

In Summary

While Living Grace Sober Living has a Christian-centered setting and clients must be willing to follow a 12-step based protocol and work their steps. The men at Living Grace Sober Living form a brotherhood and participate in many activities together. For men seeking upscale, faith-based living with the hopes of being part of an active fellowship, Living Grace Sober Living is a great option.
