The Basics
Located on the border of Louisville and Southern Indiana, the Living Empowerment Counseling Center is a Kentucky-based facility for substance abuse treatment in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Specializing in treating addiction, LICC also offers services for DUI, domestic violence, anger management and court-based issues. While no insurance is accepted, LICC is an affordable self-pay resource for basic outpatient treatment.
Treatment and Staff
All potential clients initially meet with an intake counselor and undergo a bio-psycho-social assessment allowing the staff to obtain an accurate understanding of the client’s status. All clients receive individualized care and are treated in a motivational environment. Clients and counselors devise a treatment plan tailored for his or her unique needs.
Clients attend several group therapy sessions per week, all conducted by a CADC. Group topics include relapse prevention strategies and psychoeducation. Each group costs $20 and typically ranges from 10 to 15 clients in size. Individual therapy is also available and costs range from $60 to $75 per session. These sessions can also be modified into life-coaching and goal-setting sessions for clients who have progressed in their treatment and have established sobriety.
All therapies are conducted with CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques.
While LICC does not offer acute dual-diagnosis support, individuals struggling with domestic violence disputes and anger management participate in targeted therapy conducted in gender-specific group format. Clients are encouraged to seek outside support as well, particularly 12-step meetings which help to facilitate additional support networks and provide clients with recovery-based activities outside of treatment. All clients are also drug screened at random for $35 per test to ensure abstinence during treatment.
Extras
Family and couples counseling is available to address boundaries and to involve the family system in the recovery process. One-on-one sessions are scheduled for each family and/or couple and typically last for one hour. Families learn about boundaries and enabling behavior. Groups are both therapeutic and educational to cultivate a healthy home environment for the clients and their families to coexist in. Counselors also provide community resources like Alanon and Naranon.
LICC also offers court services for clients who have DUIs or possession of marijuana charges. This program is a 20-hour track for $295 and focuses on psychoeducation and the Harm-Reduction Model. Clients must stay sober during their treatment but it is understood that not all DUI clients have a problem with substance abuse.

The Living Improvement Counseling Center is focused on providing affordable treatment for individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction and their families. Special groups focus on anger management, domestic violence and fulfillment of court obligations. With a small and credentialed staff, clients are able to access assistance from an involved team of mental health professionals with an expertise in addiction treatment and other mental health concerns.
