The Basics
The Living Center offers all levels of substance abuse treatment, including residential, outpatient and sober living. Based out of northern California, its outpatient program is in Turlock, just south of Modesto. Treatment is typically provided at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level of care, but clients leaving detox or residential treatment may also enroll in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The Living Center has been in operation since 2000 and is licensed to provide comprehensive dual diagnosis support.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, IOP clients are given a treatment plan that includes group therapy three to five times a week. Individual and couples therapy is scheduled as-needed. Clients complete their treatment plans in six to 16 weeks, usually having 30 group treatment sessions in total. Most groups meet during the day; however, evening groups are scheduled when the need arises.
The evidence-based treatment at The Living Center is inspired by the Matrix Model, incorporating CBT and relapse prevention education. Clients are also strongly encouraged to attend peer-support meetings in their community, whether it’s 12-step, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery and/or Celebrate Recovery, as a supplement to their formalized treatment program. Participation in these groups also serves to create a sober network of support, a crucial component to early sobriety.
The treatment team is primarily made up of CADCs and MFTs and a consulting psychiatrist is available for dual diagnosis support.
Extras
In terms of family programming, The Living Center periodically offers a Sunday support and education workshop for family members. As a form of aftercare, clients can attend a relapse prevention group once a week for nine months, free of charge.

The on-going aftercare group and dual diagnosis support ensure that men and women have the opportunity to integrate treatment into their daily lives and address any mental health challenges that may impact their addiction.
