Residents must be sober before beginning treatment, and the facility does not offer detox. While the length of stay at Mirikai varies depending on the needs of the client, individuals typically stay between six and 12 weeks.
The facility employs a holistic approach to care that includes evidence-based therapies, relapse prevention and transitional living. Clients engage in individual and group therapy. Groups skills classes focus on relapse prevention techniques that will ease the transition back into regular life. Family support is an integral aspect to the success of a client’s sustained recovery. While Mirikai does not offer family housing units, residents keep in touch through visits and weekend leave. The facility also provides job and life skills training.
The Mirikai team is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors and a nursing team. Medication management is available for residents with co-occurring health conditions. Sexual health specialists are also on hand.
