The Basics
List Psychological Services is a private group practice based in Caro, Michigan and serving the communities of Bay, Lapeer, Saginaw and Tuscola with a broad range of mental health, medical and human services. Located on the “thumb” of Michigan state, LPS specializes in many forms of behavioral health care including substance abuse treatment, co-occurring disorders and trauma-based diagnoses. All treatment practices are provided on an outpatient basis.
Opened in June of 2013, the substance abuse treatment facility in Caro offers a Master’s-level clinical staff who work diligently with clients to assist them towards a healthy recovery.
Treatment and Staff
Upon arrival, clients meet with an intake coordinator for an assessment of their lifestyle, health and current substance use. Based on this bio-psycho-social assessment, the client and staff develop individualized treatment plan that meets their needs. Dual-diagnosis support is available for clients requiring medication management through the supervision of a Psychiatrist. Specialized groups for anger management, PTSD and domestic violence are available for clients requiring extra support.
Once enrolled in treatment, clients participate in group and individual therapy. Group sessions focus on psycho-education, relapse prevention and stress management. Gender-specific groups are available for women so that clients may feel comfortable delving into more personal issues. Clients may also schedule a weekly individual session with their counselor, additional sessions are permitted at the discretion of the therapist. In addition to group and individual therapy, clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings.
Additional support is provided for those struggling with co-occurring depression, bi-polar disorder, eating disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, pain and stress management or adolescent depression.
Staff credentials include LCSWs, CADCs, LPCs and Clinically Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist (CCSOTS). Many of the clinical staff have advanced or Master’s-level credentials with decades of experience working in mental health. Treatment typically utilizes CBT.
Extras
LPS is currently designing an aftercare program for clients to enroll in following treatment. Additionally, parents seeking parenting help can participate in Love and Logic workshops.

List Psychological Services offers basic outpatient substance abuse treatment and behavioral health services that are individualized and tailored to the needs of the client and their schedules. All services are provided by Master’s-level therapists who offer specialized groups designed to address the specific needs of clientele. Overall, the outpatient program is suited for clients with co-occurring disorders and life obligations who are not able to enroll in a more intensive or inpatient program.
