The Basics
Lighthouse Recovery Residences offers sober living for adults recovering from substance abuse in the Memphis metro and northern Mississippi area. As part of the Turning Point Recovery organization, Lighthouse provides an affordable, safe, home-like environment for men and women who are currently participating in, or have completed inpatient treatment and want to remain in a supportive community.
Clients of Lighthouse Recovery Residences are welcome, but not required to participate in Turning Point Recovery’s treatment programs for addiction and co-occurring disorders. It offers several outpatient options and also has detox and residential tracks for adult and adolescents.
Accommodations and Amenities
Residents live in comfortable, gender-specific homes in quiet residential neighborhoods. The houses feature dorm-style bedrooms and bathrooms shared between two clients at a time. Each room has bunk beds with all bedding included. Houses also have resident lockers, large kitchens and food storage areas, dining rooms, living rooms with cable TV, laundry rooms and outdoor areas. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
Clients are responsible for grocery shopping and preparing breakfast and lunch for themselves. Residents often collaborate to prepare home-cooked meals for the house in the evenings.
Rules and Regulations
The duration of time spent in the house can vary, ranging from a month to a year. All residents must be at least 18 years of age and employed, seeking employment or attending outpatient treatment or school. Those on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) are admitted, but required to maintain ongoing participation in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). No one with outstanding warrants, violent criminal records or history as a sex offender can be admitted into the program.
All residents receive a weekly chore list and must complete it on time. In addition, 17 hours of recovery work must be completed each week. This includes church, 12-step meetings, therapy, step work and house meetings. All prescription or over-the-counter drugs, vitamins or herbal supplements are reviewed and inspected upon intake, as are all personal hygiene products. Anything containing alcohol (such as mouthwash) is not allowed. There is a strict zero tolerance policy for relapse.
Extras
Residents who own a vehicle must have a valid driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. All vehicles must be parked in designated areas only.

Lighthouse Recovery Residences are a great compliment to any of the outpatient programs at Turning Point Recovery. Though the homes are strict, but the rules offer much-needed structure. Those who choose to live here need to be serious about their sobriety and willing to follow guidelines.
