Accommodations and Food
LifeSync offers the best clinical care in a beautiful, warm residential setting. The home is set on 2.3 acres of land in the heart of Malibu, overlooking picturesque Paradise Cove and Point Dume. The 5,200 square foot facility is behind a gate, which ensures safety and privacy, making it a great choice for high-profile clients seeking a totally confidential recovery experience. The house features on-site medical exam rooms, relaxing common areas and tranquil, outdoor spaces. With just six beds, each resident gets a comfortable, private room, with men and women separated. Each room has a king or queen bed and an en suite bathroom.
LifeSync has a top-notch chef on-site that works with a nutritionist. Three gourmet meals and a variety of healthy snacks are served each day. Though healthy lifestyle choices are encouraged, clients are permitted to bring their own cigarettes and smoke in designated outdoor areas.
Treatment and Staff
The short-term detox program at LifeSync is completely individualized based on the client, their treatment goals and the types of substances they used. The average stay is seven to 10 days, but it can be extended beyond that timeframe depending on the person. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available for clients experiencing painful physical withdrawal symptoms from opiates or alcohol.
Clients have daily physical exams, medication management and therapy. Residents have plenty of quiet time as well as daily group and individual therapy, yoga and psychoeducational sessions. Topics include the physiology of the disease of addiction, relapse prevention and coping skills for life in recovery. Therapy utilizes evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT. Dual diagnosis support in the form of psychiatric care and medication management is offered to clients with co-occurring disorders.
The LifeSync team is led by co-founders Dr. Booth, who is board certified in Internal Medicine and his brother Steven, who has a background in economics and more than a decade of experience running rehab facilities. The rest of the team includes CADCs, mental health techs, CNAs and a LVN, as well as additional support staff and holistic practitioners. The facility is supervised 24 hours a day.
Extras
Clients are encouraged to rest and relax and there is ample time to sunbathe, take walks and attend on-site yoga classes each day. LifeSync doesn’t have a formal aftercare program currently, but can refer clients to local outpatient programs and also encourages AA/NA meeting attendance outside of treatment.
