The Basics
LifeChanges Counseling Center is the result of a partnership between Marion Price and Pat Sanora, two therapists who have been working together since 1989. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains in California, LifeChanges provides outpatient substance abuse treatment services to the communities of Pasadena and Arcadia.
With a team of five staff members including therapists, counselors and a medical doctor, LifeChanges offers a combined 50 years of experience with mental health treatment. The facility offers individual, couples and family counseling.
Treatment and Staff
LifeChanges offers a personalized and individualized approach to treatment with a therapeutic staff trained to address addiction as well as dual-diagnosis support. Issues with depression, anxiety, abuse and stress are addressed through an initial assessment of each client. Clients are assigned to a specific therapist with whom they develop their own unique treatment plan. There is no minimum length of treatment or standard approach to a client’s care.
The clinical staff includes two MFTs, one of which is an advanced CADC with a specialization in anger management therapy. There is also a board-certified MD of psychiatry and neurology available for more in depth psychoanalysis and medication management. All therapists employ a range of therapeutic techniques that include CBT, DBT and 12-step principles.
Clients primarily receive individual therapy and counselors work with clients to identify their patterns of use and relapse in order to develop an educated understanding of their addiction. Relapse prevention strategies are provided as well as stress management techniques. Clients are able to access grief, loss and separation counseling as well as anger management and sexual abuse therapy. Individual therapy is available for adults and adolescents as are couples and family therapy.
Extras
LifeChanges also provides Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) support and codependency therapy. Clients are able to access a range of specialized treatments and sessions that include parenting skills, psychoeducation and references to community resources. Medicaid and most insurances are accepted to that clients are not required to pay out of pocket for services.
In addition to counseling services, specific therapists offer alternative therapies including Art therapy which allows clients to explore their creative expression and hypnotherapy to help facilitate subconscious changes in the mind.
