The Basics
Life Enhancement Services was founded in 2011 to provide comprehensive behavioral health and wellness services in Washington, DC and the surrounding communities. The substance abuse treatment program at LES is exclusively outpatient and is offered to both adults and adolescents. Treatment employs evidence-based methods and uses traditional talk therapy to help clients progress in their recovery.
Treatment and Staff
LES offers a basic outpatient program that endorses the belief that mental disorders and substance abuse disorders are linked. To this end, LES integrates various methodologies in their program that aim to treat co-occurring substance abuse and mental health problems.
After an initial evaluation, counselors and their clients develop individualized recovery goals that are the focus of therapy for the duration of treatment. The program consists of two three-hour group sessions per week and a one-hour individual session. Groups cover topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, independent living skills, addiction education, self-esteem building, co-occurring disorders and anger management. Family therapy sessions can also be scheduled independently for those who wish to involve their loved ones in treatment.
All sessions implement CBT methodology. The 12-steps are not integrated into treatment, but clients are encouraged to attend meetings outside of their recovery programs. The length of the program is dependent on when the client feels as though they have accomplished their recovery goals.
The staff at LES consists of Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), LPCs and CADCs.
Extras
In addition to the outpatient substance abuse treatment program, LES also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems. Medication management, case management, community support services, crisis intervention, behavioral health modification, mental health rehabilitation, family support and parenting classes are all available.
