Laurel Care Review
Based out of Kennedy Township, Pennsylvania (a small suburb of Pittsburgh), Laurel Care is a wide-ranging behavioral health facility that offers a complete range of treatment services for clients struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. On the more flexible end of care, the organization provides outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). On the other, it also provides more intensive detox and inpatient plans as well.
Accommodations and Food
All told, Laurel Care has 92 beds available for clients in shared and private rooms. Each comes with twin beds, dressers, storage space and basic decorations. The entire facility is relatively clinical throughout, though it also includes common areas, cable TV and WiFi, therapy rooms and a cafeteria. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all participants go through an intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their needs. As mentioned, the organization does have detox services available on-site for those who need them. Once stabilized, participants attend full days of treatment, which include both individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Other services include cutting-edge medical approaches such as neurofeedback and biofeedback as well as rotating experiential therapies. Throughout their stay, residents are expected to attend on-site 12-step meetings as well.
The staff at Laurel Care consists of nurses, MDs, LPCs, case managers and additional Master’s-level counselors. As the program does have medical supervision, basic support for dual diagnosis issues can be facilitated. Still, those seeking more intensive psychiatric care may need to find additional aid elsewhere.
Extras
Once participants complete one of the above programs, they are also welcome to transition into one of the organization’s other outpatient plans as a step-down aftercare option. Family therapy services are also woven into treatment whenever necessary. Treatment plans are open to adults, adolescents and the elderly as well. Even if they choose not to continue attending therapy through Laurel Care, clients are also welcome to work with case managers to develop other discharge plans.

In all, Laurel Care offers well-rounded residential programs for clients of all ages, along with a full continuum of other services as well. All treatment plans are individualized and include evidence-based therapy, 12-step integration, medical supervision and cutting edge therapies such as biofeedback as well. Although the cost of these programs may vary depending on the strength of each person’s insurance, Laurel Care’s residential options remain a strong resource for clients in the area.
