The Basics
Run through Laurel Health Centers, a family-based health service provider, Laurel Behavioral Health offers counseling for substance abuse and mental health issues in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Treatment is offered on an outpatient basis, through individual therapy. Developing healthy coping skills though evidence-based therapies, clients learn to thrive in sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to beginning counseling, an initial assessment is used to determine the level of care needed. Detox and residential treatment are not offered.
Unlike a structured outpatient program, individual therapy gives clients complete individualized attention. Working closely with a therapist, the client can address the underlying issues of addiction. Typically these sessions are 60 minutes and conducted on a weekly basis. However, the client and their therapist will determine a schedule that best suits the individual’s needs.
Evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT are brought in to combat the client’s thinking patterns. Focus is placed on relapse prevention, supporting the client as they go through the ups and downs of recovery. While the 12 steps are not a mandatory part of the program, they can used as a recovery approach. Support for co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety is also available.
Clients are also able to come in for family or couples therapy. These sessions teach clients and their loved ones how to communicate, set healthy boundaries and learn more about the recovery process.
The staff consists of psychologists and CADCs.

Laurel Health Centers is able to offer internal medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, nutritional counseling and diabetes education.
