Landmark Recovery Review
Landmark Recovery is a full service treatment program with three facilities across Indiana and Kentucky. Originally established in 2016, the organization has grown to offer higher levels of care due to the overwhelming issues caused by the opioid crisis. Treatment includes medical detox, residential care, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Programming incorporates evidence-based therapies during group and individual therapy. Participants also have access to support through SMART Recovery, 12-step, and holistic approaches.
Accommodations and Food
The residential facility in Carmel, Indiana is a 48 bed freestanding treatment center. The state of the art location provides all the comforts of home in a clinical setting. The bedrooms are all semi-private and clients share the bathrooms with their wings.
The building contains a fitness center, classrooms, and therapy rooms. There is also a medical wing. Common areas throughout the facility include a living room space and lounge.
All meals are served on site and prepared by the kitchen staff. Breakfast, lunch and dinner come from a set menu, and snacks are set out throughout the day.
Treatment and Staff
Depending on the level of care and facility, clients may undergo a medical detox as the first step in their treatment. There is also Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) available. Every level of care in the program includes group and individual therapy along with support meetings and therapeutic activities. Every client also has their own customized treatment track.
The residential program is a 35 day track. Every day is structured and incorporates a number of beneficial and experiential elements. There are 21 hours per week of therapy and six hours per week of recreation and exercise. There are several group sessions per day and two individual sessions per week.
The PHP is a full day program that runs from 9 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. A unique aspect to the PHP at Landmark Recovery is that there are options for clients to reside at the facility while participating in this program, or have it serve as an outpatient program.
The IOP is broken down into three-hour sessions at least three times per week with a bit of flexibility in terms of treatment times. This track is usually around 10 weeks in length.
Group sessions cover issues like relapse prevention, crisis intervention, identifying triggers, and psychoeducation. Therapeutic approaches are DBT, CBT, Interpersonal, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), and Seeking Safety.
Staff includes addiction therapists, LPNs, LCSWs, dietitians, doctors and registered nurses.
The family program consists of two therapy sessions per week. They address issues of boundaries, and how addiction affects the family and not just the individual. It also provides an introduction to Alanon and other support communities.
Holistic treatment methods include mindfulness, and art and music therapy. Exercise and recreation is a big part of the programming at Landmark Recovery. As a result, in the residential program clients play group sports, like basketball, participate in Tai Chi and yoga, and group classes like Zumba, Jazzercise and power walking.
The alumni program is free and includes group therapy, events, SMART Recovery and AA meetings twice a week.
Landmark Recovery is a comprehensive and well rounded treatment program that is operated by professional and experienced staff. The programming provides options not typically found in treatment programs, as well as a combination of traditional and holistic approaches.
