Landmark Recovery Louisville Review
The Louisville, Kentucky Landmark Recovery location is a full service mental health and addiction treatment facility. Programming includes detox, residential and intensive outpatient care. Throughout treatment, clients can expect 12-step and SMART Recovery support, individual and group therapy, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and education. While in the residential track, there is an emphasis on learning how to live a life in recovery that is full of joy and purpose. Individuals acquire life skills, and recover with the support of a steady, structured environment.
Accommodations and Food
The residential facility in Louisville is fairly new, opened in 2019, and offers 36 beds. The bright and cheerful facility boasts home-like accommodations in bedrooms that are double occupancy. The bedrooms are furnished with twin beds and small dressers. Common spaces include a front sitting room and lounge with a TV and dining room. There is also a full workout room in the facility.
The campus is very well maintained and has some walking paths surrounding the location. In addition, the front of the facility has a gazebo and shaded areas where clients can sit and relax.
Meals are served in the dining room at 7 am, noon and 5 pm. Other than that, there are a variety of snacks available throughout the day, as well as coffee and an array of other beverage choices.
Treatment and Staff
Residential treatment includes over 21 hours of group therapy on any given week, and at least two individual therapy sessions. Group focus covers teaching clients a number of life and coping skills. This includes relapse prevention, identifying triggers, and becoming familiar with support groups. Typically clients who participate in the residential program begin with the medical detox. On average clients stay in detox for four to seven days, depending on their needs. Throughout the detox experience they are monitored by medical staff to ensure they work through their withdrawal phase safely and comfortably.
Support groups at the facility are AA based, but are not zeroed in on the spirituality of the principles necessarily. There are also Seeking Safety groups held on site, as well as SMART Recovery meetings.
Other elements of treatment at this facility includes a specialized dual diagnosis track, and approaches that are based on CBT, DBT and trauma informed care. Medication management is integrated into treatment for clients who need to manage their cravings, or to help balance out the mental illness aspect of their addiction. Medication provided to handle cravings at Landmark Recovery is Suboxone, Naloxone, Vivitrol and Camprol.
Holistic approaches in treatment include mindfulness and meditation practice, which is incorporated on a daily basis. There is also recreational activities scheduled for one hour per day, six days a week, and art and music therapy.
The Louisville facility employs Master’s level therapists, addiction specialists, LPCs, LPNs, RNs, and medical doctors to operate their programs.
Extras
Exercise is an essential element of treatment at this facility. Clients have many choices when it comes to physical exercise, including Zumba, aerobics, Power 90, Yoga, and Tai Chi.
There is family therapy twice a week at the facility. In addition the aftercare program is comprised of alumni who run peer groups twice a week.
