Lakeview Health Review
Lakeview Health is a licensed and Joint Commission accredited private drug and alcohol treatment facility that opened in 2001 in Jacksonville, Florida. As of now, it’s one of several leading behavioral health providers, boasting a newly renovated campus and a motto of helping clients find their “true north” with treatment that emphasizes body, mind and spirit.
Accommodations and Food
In terms of inpatient treatment, Lakeview is gender-responsive and provides 132 beds, all in semi-private rooms with twin beds. Common leisure spaces have TVs and board games. For those in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) levels of care, patients reside in off-campus provided apartments, also known as the Villages. At the Villages, residents live with same-gender roommates; all apartments have two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room with a TV. Staff are on-site 24/7 and shuttles take clients to and from treatment at the facility, as well as to off-site activities or nightly 12-step meetings. For those living in Lakeview’s main gender-responsive facilities, electronics and non-recovery literature aren’t allowed.
The men’s and women’s inpatient residential programs have a common dining room where both healthy dishes and comfort food are served in equal measure. Some meals include baked tilapia, chicken cordon bleu and vegetarian options, all prepared in-house.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment itself generally lasts approximately six weeks and includes medical detox, dual diagnosis support, individual therapy and group therapy, doctor’s appointments and time for private reflection; some plusses are that Lakeview offers gender-responsive programs—men and women are completely separate. It also does its best to individualize relapse prevention plans for all clients.
Extras
Treatment includes a three-day family program where deeper issues can be worked out with family members present, as well as a fairly extensive alumni network.
Lakeview offers “recreation therapy” as well as “exercise and fitness therapy.” There is also yoga, music therapy and a trauma therapy for men and women. Equine therapy is is an experiential therapy that some long-term clients have as a therapeutic option toward the end of their stay.
Off-site activities include bowling, days at the beach, dance classes and trips to local parks.
In Summary
Lakeview Health offers a wide range of programming that more than covers the bases, when it comes to the essentials of residential treatment in a safe and secure setting. Its well-rounded staff, variety of treatment modalities and solid dose of recreational activities and outings all make it an excellent option for help with addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in northern Florida.
