The Basics
Lakeview Center in Florida offers a series of substance abuse and co-occurring treatment programming options for adults, including a medical detox, residential program and outpatient tracks. Outpatient treatment includes an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at two locations. Treatment includes the 12 steps and counseling in both individual and group settings. In addition to the adult programs provides through Lakeview, there are also comprehensive adolescent treatment tracks as well.
Treatment and Staff
One of the locations where the IOP takes place is The Friary, a secluded, private treatment facility that is a former retreat for Franciscan monks turned treatment center. This is the same location that also offers residential programming for adults.
The other program is known as Pathway, which has two facilities. One is on Lakeview’s main campus in Pensacola and the other in Shalimar, Florida. The main facility is also offers the Pathways Drug Court Program, which offers alternative solutions to clients having to go to jail for drug offenses by putting together a treatment plan of supervised drug testing, and being placed into an outpatient program to satisfy court requirements.
Treatment at all outpatient locations includes psychoeducation, evidence-based therapy approaches, and in some cases, medical and nursing care. There are medication management options for dual diagnosis clients, and a maintenance program for opioid use with the drug Suboxone.
One difference between the locations is that The Friary also offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for medically stabilized clients. This option runs seven days a week, with weekdays going from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and weekends from 8 am to 3 pm. The amount treatment clients receive is completely dependent on their customized programming plan.
Treatment methods includes CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), experiential approaches and trauma-informed care protocols. Clients attend regular lectures and skill building groups and have relapse prevention classes. In addition, Lakeview offers extensive counseling and education surrounding codependency and gender specific issues, mindfulness techniques and some exercise.
There is a large clinical and medical staff at Lakeview Center in all aspects of their treatment facilities. Medical doctors and nurses are always on hand, and clients are treated by Master’s-level therapists who are LCSW, LMHC, psychiatrists and certified addictionologists.
Extras
Family and couples counseling is an essential element of every level of care at Lakeview Center. The Friary also offers an alumni program that meets monthly and participates in various events.
