Lynn Massachusetts The Basics

Lahey Behavioral Health Services has a substance abuse and mental health treatment history spanning over 50 years. Formerly known as Northeast Behavioral Health, Lahey provides services for residents of the greater Boston metro, North Shore and Merrimack Valley, in Massachusetts. Offering a continuum of care that spans detox, inpatient, outpatient, prevention and education, adult and adolescent clients find targeted treatment. Ryan House is one of two sober living homes operated by Lahey, and the only one that serves both men and women.

Accommodations and Amenities

Located just 10 minutes walk from the ocean in Lynn, Massachusetts, Ryan House is made up of both men’s and women’s residences. Close to public transit, clients have quick access to a network of shops. All bedding, toiletries and food are supplied. Rooms are furnished with bunk beds and each client has a designated storage area for clothes and personal items. Meals are prepared communally, and while groceries are purchased by staff, the meals are cooked by clients.

Rules and Regulations

Although the length of treatment varies, clients typically stay around six months. With a strong focus on treatment, clients must be willing to participate in scheduled activities. Group therapy, 12-step meetings and community services are offered on-site. Participation in these activities aims to keep focus on recovery, and stabilizes clients as they transition from inpatient care. All clients must maintain sobriety, with random urinalysis screenings performed to ensure compliance.

In addition to group activities, individual case management occurs with clients meeting their clinical team weekly. Relapse prevention, anger management and life skills training is provided to assist clients with development of coping skills. In additional to 24/7 supervision, staff offers employment counseling and medication management. For clients with co-occurring disorders, mental health services are easily accessible and coordinated to ensure adequate treatment is received.

Clients must find employment as soon as they are physically able, and payment of fees begins at this point. Treatment is at no cost until then. Once employed, clients give half their wages to Ryan’s House, the funds used for treatment of future clients.

Extras

Recreational outings and group activities are organizes to encourage a sense of fun and community. Specialized services for chronically homeless clients include comprehensive medical and psychological assessment. Treatment plans may include referrals and resources that address these issues.

In Summary

Ryan House is the final step for many clients receiving treatment for substance abuse at Lahey. With a stronger structure and more participation required than many sober living homes, clients at Ryan House are sure to find supportive, personalized care. A structured environment is suitable for those that require high-intensity care or frequently relapse.
