The Basics
Located in New Haven, Connecticut, La Clinica Hispanica is an outpatient treatment facility operated through the Connecticut Mental Health Center in cooperation with Yale University’s School of Medicine’s psychiatric department. Founded in 1973, the organization offers flexible treatment services for monolingual Latinos struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The facility is also a training site for the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. While the specifics of care may vary, each program includes both individual and group therapy rooted in a range of evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Dual diagnosis support is available is available along with medication management. Each program also offers groups focused on 12-step recovery, relapse prevention, addiction education and spirituality. Detox is not available.
The staff at La Clinica Hispanica consists of LCSWs, RNs, MDs, psychologists, psychiatrists, case managers and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Aside from the programs described above, the organization also has a triage unit for those in need of crisis stabilization. Other standalone services include psychiatric assessments, family therapy and holistic care groups including acupuncture. Clients in need of aftercare services can also continue with therapy at a stepped-down rate.

Overall, La Clinica Hispanica provides psychiatric and medically-based outpatient care for Latino clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment includes a variety of evidence-based practices as well as 12-step based principles.
