The Basics
Kodiak Recovery is a full service outpatient clinic located in Edina, Minnesota. It offers treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders and co-occurring disorders. Programming consists of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Both integrate 12-step, trauma-informed care and evidence-based protocols. Kodiak Recovery strives to offer well rounded treatment that promotes hopeful and healthy life changes.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient programs are individualized and flexible. Clients set the times and hours they come in. As long as the client completes their established hours, they can complete treatment. However, the group times are divided up by the intensity level of treatment. Clients who need more focused care attend groups in the morning hours up to five days a week. Step-down clients attend in the evening between two and four days a week.
During the early stages of treatment, clients meet with their therapist for one on one therapy around three times to establish a program plan. After that initial phase clients meet for individual therapy once a week for an hour to go over treatment goals. Group therapy covers relapse prevention, codependency, emotional wellness, managing stress, independent living skills and continuing care planning.
Kodiak utilizes a combination of holistic and traditional protocols. They include CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), expressive therapies and mindfulness. With the emphasis on trauma-informed care, programming also integrates methods like EMDR. Medication management is readily available as well.
There is a medical staff on site that includes a psychiatrist, and several Master’s-level therapists on hand who have extensive experience working with co-occurring disorders. They are LPC, LADC and LCSW.
Extras
There are weekly family therapy and psychoeducation opportunities extended to clients and their loved ones throughout treatment. Additionally, Kodiak Recovery can offer resources for Al-Anon and Alateen meetings within the community.

Kodiak Recovery strives to foster a safe place to receive counseling an manage addiction. It also aims to uncover what the root of the addiction might actually be. Each client has an individualized program. While the schedule is mostly in their control, they are still being held accountable.
