Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center Review
The Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center is a Brooklyn, New York facility that has been offering co-ed inpatient substance abuse treatment for more than 20 years. Though Kingsboro is a state-run facility, its mission is to provide person-centered treatment in a safe and nurturing environment. Services available include medically-monitored detox, residential treatment and aftercare referrals. There is also an entirely Spanish-speaking program for up to 15 monolingual clients.
Accommodations and Food
The Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center operates a six-story facility that offers 70 beds. Clients are accommodated in gender-specific dorms, each with it’s own bathroom. Located in the the borough of Brooklyn, the Kingsboro center boasts cheerful decorations as well as outdoor recreation areas, an exercise room and an outdoor patio for relaxation. Kingsboro is a tobacco-free facility.
All meals are included in cost of stay prepared and provided for the clients and served in a contemporary dining room. Nutrition assessments are provided for each client and special dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center accepts clients based on a strict set of criteria. The individual must be over 18 (although some exceptions can be made) have a living environment not conducive to recovery, have physical or mental complications and co-occurring disorders requiring medical management and need 24 hour supervision. Individual must reside in NYC or Kings County.
The detox program may last three to seven days depending on clients’ needs. During detox, clients are monitored around the clock by medical staff. Upon completion of detox, clients can transfer seamlessly to the inpatient program. Kingsboro’s residential treatment program lasts a month. Clients take part in a rigorous daily schedule of CBT-based individual therapy with their assigned counselor as well as group sessions that are offered daily. Each client is required to attend a specified amount of therapy determined by the individualized treatment plan devised alongside their counselor upon admission.
During their stay clients get the care of medical and nursing staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center staff consists of CADCs, a psychiatrist, a psychologist a director, an assistant a medical director and an admissions coordinator.
Extras
Kingsboro’s unique monolingual Spanish-speaking program has a staff of Hispanic counselors for every shift. All materials and groups are in Spanish and each client is provided individualized care by a Hispanic counselor.

The Kingsboro Addiction Treatment Center has a very respectable two decades of experience in offering treatment services to those with substance abuse issues. What is more, perhaps is that Kingsboro operates under the directive that treatment will not be denied to anyone due to inability to pay. While cost of care should be covered by most insurance the sliding scale fees available for those paying out of pocket ensure that care is affordable.
