Keystone Recovery Network Review

Keystone Recovery Network opened its doors in early 2017 to provide holistic, physician-supported residential treatment in Montecito, a wealthy, celebrity-filled enclave near Santa Barbara, California. Treatment and lodging take place in a plush, well-appointed Spanish-style residence that sits on an acre of verdant grounds.

Keystone offers detox (typically three to seven days) overseen by Dr. David Dyne, a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine. While Keystone is a new addition to the southern California recovery community, its multi-disciplinary treatment team has decades of experience with multiple populations throughout the state.

Accommodations and Food

Keystone’s residence features a traditional décor with wrought-iron bed frames, fireplaces and hardwood floors throughout. The home has 12 beds and most clients have private rooms with full-sized beds. The residence has common areas for TV and video games. Rooms have ocean and mountain views, and the home has a pool, jacuzzi and sauna.

After detox, clients can have limited access to personal phones and computers as long as they don’t interfere with their treatment progress.

Healthy, gourmet meals are a mainstay of treatment, and Keystone employs a full-time chef to provide meals and snacks that meet residents’ nutritional needs and preferences.

Treatment and Staff

Most treatment plans are 30 days; however, clients may be able to arrange longer stays if needed. Clients attend group therapy and psychoeducation and holistic treatment classes throughout the day and have individual therapy at least once a week. Keystone takes a client-focused approach to treatment, and each resident receives a customized treatment plan that includes CBT and DBT skills, Neurofeedback, art and music therapy, breath work and mindfulness training.

Clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings while in treatment and Keystone provides transportation to meetings in the evenings. While the treatment team addresses co-occurring disorders in therapy, clients in need of dual diagnosis support are taken to mental health professionals in the area.

In addition to the physician and nursing staff, the treatment team includes LCSWs, CADCs and CATCs. Each client is assigned a primary counselor who monitors their progress throughout treatment and a case manager who helps coordinate care and create aftercare plans.

Extras

Clients can invite loved ones to family therapy and Keystone offers a family group each Wednesday evening. Massage therapy is available for an additional fee. On weekends, the treatment team takes clients on excursions to the movies, beach and hiking.

In Summary

Keystone Recovery Network’s physician-supported detox and residential treatment offers clients holistic and evidence-based care in a tranquil luxury residence. By assigning its 12 residents a primary therapist and case manager, Keystone ensures that each client’s treatment and aftercare plans are adjusted to meet their evolving recovery needs. Keystone’s exact location is not disclosed in order to protect the privacy of its clients.
