The Basics
Kentucky Counseling Center (KCC) is a treatment provider with nine locations throughout the state of Kentucky. The facility specializes in the care of men and women struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as co-occurring mental illnesses. KCC offers an array of outpatient services as well as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at one of the Lexington facilities. Medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
KCC utilizes a client-centered model to focus on the enhancing the individual’s strengths. Incoming clients undergo a comprehensive assessment performed by an intake team made up of a psychiatric and family nurse, therapist and case manager. The facility’s comprehensive IOP is customized and can range from eight to 24 weeks.
The multi-faceted strategy for care integrates a range of therapeutic methods including psychological evaluation, medication management, counseling and life skills development. Case management is a major component of the programming too. Clients receive legal assistance, socialization, employment training and referrals, financial education and transitional housing opportunities. KCC offers individual and family counseling sessions as well as therapy for children and adolescents. In addition, KCC can facilitate therapy and psychiatric services over the phone or Skype. The IOP also has the opportunity for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) that combines Vivitrol with behavioral therapy.
KCC employs a diverse team of counselors, board-certified therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and social workers. As previously mentioned, medication management and psychiatric services are available for clients in need of dual diagnosis support.
KCC has nine locations in Covington, Franklin, London, Richmond, two in Lexington and another two in Louisville. For clients that cannot meet at one of the locations, KCC comes to the individual’s office, home or school.
