The Kendall County Health Department was established in 1966 to provide health and wellness services to Kendall County and surrounding communities in Yorkville, Illinois, about an hour and half outside of Chicago. With a range of mental health programs including youth and family services, eldercare, prevention and parenting education, the substance abuse treatment program is exclusively outpatient with varying levels of intensity.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient treatment program at KCHD offers varying levels of treatment services depending on the needs of each individual. Following an initial evaluation and assessment, an individualized plan is developed tailored to the unique needs of each client.
Level 0.5 of treatment consists of intervention services for adults and adolescents who are at risk of developing a substance abuse problem. Level I treatment is for intermediate substance abuse problems and consists of up to nine hours per week of individual and group therapy and family counseling if needed. Level II treatment is for severe substance abuse and consists of a minimum of nine treatment hours per week. All levels of treatment implement CBT methodology.
The 12-steps are not incorporated into the program, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend community meetings outside of treatment.
Additional programs offered by KCHD include outpatient mental health services, suicide/crisis services, immunizations, community outreach services, food protection and environmental health services.
The substance abuse treatment program at the Kendall County Health Department is ideal for those seeking a no-nonsense approach to recovery with varying levels of outpatient treatment. Using evidence-based practices and helping clients maintain a connection to recovery with an aftercare program, this community oriented organization has a history of commitment to overall mental health.
