Treatment and Staff
There is an option for clients to select their preferred therapist on Kayenta Therapy’s website by answering a few questions regarding their reason for seeking treatment, their age and payment preferences. Once someone is paired up with a counselor, they set up their initial appointment where they discuss the client’s issues and concerns and come up with a treatment plan. In some cases clients sign over their consent to have their therapist have contact with their psychiatrist to discuss medication options.
Each of these sessions last for 45 to 50 minutes; the client and the therapist come up with weekly goals and future plans. In the case of an addiction, it is not uncommon for the therapist to recommend a community such as AA or SMART Recovery.
Treatment approaches vary between therapists and can differ within clients as to fit their specific needs. An example of treatment methods used are CBT, Gestalt, Humanistic, Jungian, Play Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and mindfulness approaches.
The counselors are trained in addressing behavioral health issues like bipolar disorder, eating disorders, PTSD, Postpartum Depression, women’s and men’s specific issues, and self harm or self esteem concerns. They offer coping skills, life skills, relapse prevention techniques and life coaching.
There is a huge staff at Kayenta Therapy. The majority is made up or MFT interns, with several being students that are overseen by licensed therapists.
