KAYA Rehab is an international addiction treatment facility located in Northern Philippines. KAYA was founded by Robert Labus, who was a former client and then counselor at DARA, a well known treatment facility in Thailand. His goal was to offer men and women high end accommodations and strength based programming that utilizes the 12 steps and best practice approaches. Treatment is individualized and provides a variety of amenities and excursions in addition to a comprehensive schedule of therapeutic programming.
Accommodations and Food
The residence is situated in Baguio City, which is well known as a top tourist destination in the Philippines because of it’s reputation for being a mountain paradise. The grounds are surrounded by tall pine trees and other exotic greenery, and the facility itself has a countryside getaway feel to it, even though the world renowned La Union beaches are just an hour’s drive away. The modern home has private and semi-private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms that offer panoramic views. Shared areas include a spacious outdoor porch, conference and meeting rooms, and a living room with fireplace. There is also Wifi throughout the house.
Clients have three gourmet meals prepared every day by a team of chefs who serve buffet style choices. Food is fresh and clients are able to have some input into menu options. The chefs specialized in Asian, Western and Filipino cuisine, and snacks are available around the clock every day.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment programs at KAYA are usually 30 to 90 day tracks that are based on the Unified Treatment Model (UTM), which is comprised of CBT and the 12-step recovery principles. Clients put together a personalized treatment plan with their therapist that includes daily group therapy, individual therapy, fitness, relaxation, psychoeducation and stress reduction. Throughout their stay residents work with the treatment team to track their progress within the program and work to achieve new goals in their recovery.
Groups address relapse prevention, Motivational Interviewing (MI) life skills and learning how to make healthy choices. Additionally, clients’ families are encouraged to be a part of their loved one’s progress and are offered counseling services. Along with chemical dependency the programs offered through KAYA cover eating disorders, gambling addiction and a variety of other compulsive behaviors. Medical services are also available.
There is a large staff at KAYA that includes CADCs, addiction therapists and counselors, along with house support.
Clients have the opportunity to do some exploring while living at KAYA. Some excursions include surfing, hot springs, museums, the Strawberry farm, and golf, which happens to take place on the facility’s grounds. There is also a luxury swimming pool, a fully equipped gym and regular massages. Meditation and yoga are regularly implemented into programming.
KAYA is a private and secure treatment facility that aims to provide the highest standard of comfort to men and women struggling with substance abuse and ready to get help in a formalized rehab setting, that’s perhaps very far from the environment of their everyday life. The holistic approaches take into account each individual’s care and there is definitely an emphasis on client’s success and continued sobriety. KAYA is a solid, unique option for addiction treatment that offers plenty of luxury-level amenities, at a very low price point.
