The Basics
Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center offers an addiction treatment program on its campus that provides clients with access to some of the top addiction and medical resources and care in the country. Services include an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and detox with Suboxone treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Kaiser’s IOP starts with an “early recovery phase,” an eight-week introductory period during which clients participate in day and/or evening CBT and DBT recovery groups and individual counseling. Clients are expected to commit to 90 minutes per day of counseling, with sessions available Monday through Friday in the mornings and evenings, depending on scheduling needs. If needed, make-up sessions are available on Saturday mornings. Clients requiring more intensive addiction recovery care are enrolled in the PHP.
Upon completion of the early phase of recovery, clients may choose to end their treatment or continue for however long they or their counselor deems necessary. Clients are encouraged to involve their spouses, significant others, family and loved ones and, to this end, Kaiser offers a family program focused on including loved ones in the long-term support of recovery.
Those requiring detox services are partially hospitalized during the length of the detox.
Clients are required to participate in the 12-step program as well as other self-help groups during the entry-level phase of recovery. Following early recovery, individuals who continue to participate in the outpatient program are encouraged to continue their participation in outside recovery support groups, but it is not required.
