The Juneau County Department of Human Services (JCDHS) offers a variety of behavioral health, wellness and social services to the residents of Juneau County and the surrounding communities. Located in Mauston, Wisconsin, clients have access to the Redwood Forest as well as the numerous resources a city has to offer. The substance abuse treatment offered by JCDHS is an adult outpatient program.
Treatment and Staff
After making an initial appointment, clients begin treatment with a complete diagnostic assessment performed by a licensed mental health staff member. Once the assessment is complete, a counselor or therapist is assigned to the client’s case. Counselors work with clients to form an individualized service plan based off the findings of the assessment. This plan outlines the types of therapy recommended for treatment, the frequency of each type of therapy per week, whether or not medication is necessary and the duration of treatment.
The types of therapies offered at JCDHS include individual and group therapy, family therapy and dual diagnosis support. In addition to implementing these therapies, a client’s assigned counselor also helps with case management, provides feedback, assists in crisis, maintains and updates therapy schedules for the client, provides opportunities to get involved in the community and provides referrals for outside facilitates and for aftercare. Twelve-step recovery is not facilitated here but referrals to outside AA/NA meetings can be made.
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, JCDHS also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems and other issues as well. Other services include mental health treatment services, elderly care, comprehensive community services, child protective services, adult protective services, juvenile delinquent services, foster care and food sharing services.
Those looking for a solid outpatient treatment program with a variety of therapy options would be hard-pressed to find a better one than Juneau County Department of Human Services. The initial assessment allows for the client’s assigned counselor to create an individualized treatment plan involving any number of therapies and services deemed necessary for however long.
