Accommodations and Amenities
Joy’s House has a total of 10 beds; and women share bedrooms with two to three other residents. Each room comes equipped with twin beds, dressers and closet space. The house is located on almost an acre of land that features a volleyball court and outside barbecue area. Shared common areas include a living room with TV and premium cable, a computer, on-site laundry and a full kitchen. Residents are expected prepare their own meals.
Rules and Regulations
To stay at Joy’s House, residents must either secure employment, do volunteer work, enroll in school or vocational training, or attend outpatient treatment. All clients must also submit to regular and random drug tests and obey a house behavioral contract, which includes completing basic chores around the house. While stays generally extend beyond three months, clients are also required to attend a 12-step meeting every day for the first 90 days they are in residence.

Additional services include massage therapy, Tai Chi and acupuncture. The house organizes periodic off-site outings to facilitate community bonding. Finally, the facility can make referrals for further treatment as a form of aftercare, if necessary.
