JourneyPure Emerald Coast Review
East of Rosemary Beach in the northern part of the panhandle of Florida is JourneyPure Emerald Coast, a luxury detox and residential treatment facility for adults who are in need of a program addressing their alcohol and drug addictions and/or co-occurring disorders. Treatment is based on the medical model of care and offers comprehensive therapy along with medication management using evidence-based approaches in conjunction with 12-step focus.
Accommodations and Food
Both the men’s and women’s residences are steps from the beach in colorful, comfortable beach houses. These homes offer privacy and spacious accommodations within the multi-story facilities. The bedrooms are fully furnished with twin beds and individual dressers, and are shared between two clients. The common spaces in both locations include the living room that has a TV with cable and WiFi, dining room, kitchen and outdoor deck. There are also swimming pools and laundry facilities at both homes.
Residents of the detox and residential program have a chef who prepares every meal and is able to follow dietary restrictions and requests. There are weekly trips to the grocery store where clients can make a list of their favorite foods. There are also several snacks set out daily, and many of the meals are prepared with organic ingredients.
Treatment and Staff
The detox process is in a medical facility adjacent to the treatment campus where clients go for therapy daily. Clients are monitored 24 hours a day by nursing staff to take their vitals and make sure they’re going through the experience as comfortably as possible. Once stabilization occurs, they move into the residential level of care which incorporates daily AA meetings, nutritional counseling, individual and group therapy, life skills training, like cooking classes and guidance on how to manage money, involvement in local volunteering efforts, and regular exercise.
Every client is provided with an individualized treatment plan, and while most clients stay for about 30 days or so, there is no set amount of time that clients are committed to making.
Therapy includes EMDR, DBT, CBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and neurofeedback sessions. For clients with an existing dual diagnosis there are medication management services overseen by the nursing staff.
There is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians heading up the inpatient programs at JourneyPure. They include a medical director, case manager, LPC, CMHC and addiction counselors.
Extras
There are a number of experiential therapies offered at JourneyPure including a songwriting workshop, equine therapy, wilderness and adventure Therapy, and a series of recreational activities.
There are extensive programs offered to family members and aftercare services for up to one year. There is also a speciality track specifically for the working professional.
