Johnson County Substance Use ServicesThe Basics

Johnson County Substance Use Services (JCSUS) is an affordable behavioral health resource offered to the residents and communities of Johnson County, Kansas. Johnson County is the most populated county in the state, making it the ideal location for providing numerous options for health services and recovery aids. The substance use services offered by JCSUS include prevention, detox, an adolescent substance abuse treatment program and a dual diagnosis outpatient program. There are also prevention and education programs for adolescents, parents and community members seeking further information on addiction.

Treatment and Staff

There is an adult detoxification program for those in need of detox services before they enter into a treatment program. The detox unit is 14 beds and offers medically monitored services. There is also the Adolescent Center for Treatment (ACT), which offers a 21-bed residential facility for adolescents suffering from addiction or substance abuse. Lastly, there is a dual diagnosis outpatient treatment program for adults and adolescents that implements evidence-based therapies such as CBT and community reinforcement approaches. The programs are individualized to the recovery needs of each client and frequency of sessions is determined on a case-by-case basis. Group sessions and individual sessions are offered Monday through Friday with day and evening times available. Family counseling and family support groups are also offered. The length of treatment is dependent on the needs of each individual and is subject to change as the client progresses through treatment. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, but clients are strongly encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings outside of their structured treatment.

The staff at JCSUS consists of LMHCs, LSWs, LPCs, LADCs and CADCs.

Extras

In addition to the comprehensive substance abuse treatment programs, JCSUS also offers treatment for a variety of behavioral health problems and other issues. Some of these services include suicide prevention, mental health services, deaf services, emergency services, a strengthening families program, a special needs program and other miscellaneous health resources.
