Based out of Los Angeles, California, Sober Companions offers intervention and recovery companion services to clients in need of guidance in overcoming addiction. Founded by John West who is also managing partner, West is a highly trained professional who prefers to remain anonymous for the sake of his client’s confidentiality.
Services incorporate both the invitational and the surprise models of interventions, depending on the conditions of each family and their needs. The Background
Staff interventionists and professionals at Sober Companions have established sobriety and live active lives as professionals in the field of their choice. The team consists of a credentialed staff of over 100 individuals with diverse backgrounds and years of personal and professional experience in the field of addiction. By employing individuals who are actors, teachers, doctors, social workers, body-guards, musicians, nurses and more, each team-member brings years of sobriety, professionalism and discretion to their work.
The Approach
Interventionists at Sober Companions are trained on two models, the Johnson Intervention Model and the ARISE Model. With the knowledge of both techniques, interventionist tailor the procedure to best meet the needs of the client and their families. The process may take just one day or up to a few days depending on the unique needs of each client.
In addition, focus is placed on developing an organic experience that can be altered at any moment during the intervention to ensure the desired outcome. Typically, interventions lead to a recovery plan that includes treatment and/or returning to daily life with a sober companion.
Sober companions typically live with clients from two weeks for up to two years, mentoring and guiding them through the daily stresses of life helping them to maintain long-term sobriety. Detox services are also arranged when necessary.
Post-Intervention and Summary
Treatment plans are developed which incorporate the entire family in hopes of promoting a healthy awareness of the addict’s experience. Regular drug tests are offered to ensure abstinence as needed. Sober Companions staff maintain lasting contact with clients and the support team providing case management helping to monitor behavior and watch for triggers and old, unhealthy behaviors. Additional services include a Specialized Recovery Living program, crisis evaluations and help arranging transitional or sober living.
