Richmond VirginiaThe Basics

Just 30 minutes south of Richmond, VirginiaJohn Randolph Medical Center  offers outpatient treatment and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for addiction and co-occurring disorders Founded in 1915 as a subsidiary of healthcare conglomerate HCA Virginia, the facility is also a 147-bed, full-service hospital providing comprehensive health care for a range of medical needs.

Treatment and Staff

Clients in need of detox prior to treatment can do so on-site with a fully supervised Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). This phase generally lasts a week but can vary slightly. Once stabilized, clients can continue on to outpatient care.

The basic outpatient program is flexible and individualized but generally includes some combination of individual and group therapy, relapse prevention, coping skills and educational classes about addiction as a disease. All therapy utilizes evidence-based practices including CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Clients are required to actively participate in AA/NA during treatment.

The PHP is for adults and adolescents and incorporates many of the same modalities as the basic outpatient, yet is more specifically geared towards clients transitioning out of inpatient treatment or who are dealing with immediate critical health issues. Those in need of more intensive treatment for psychiatric issues are also encouraged to begin the PHP before stepping down to basic outpatient.

The staff consists of a wide range of trained and credentialed professionals, including CADCs, MDs, RNs, psychologists and case managers.

Extras

Once initial treatment is completed, aftercare plans are available and designed to fit a variety of schedules. Family therapy can be integrated into the programs as needed. The facility also provides short-term inpatient care for clients suffering from severe cases of addiction. Screenings and assessments are also offered.

As a full-service hospital, John Randolph Medical Center has many other departments offering services for a range of health issues not related to addiction. It benefits greatly from the extensive resources of its parent organization, HCA Virginia.
