Jenny RodinThe Basics

Interventionist Jenny Rodin is the founder of Hope Family Interventions, located about 30 miles south of Los Angeles in Santa Ana, California. Hope Family Interventions provides family interventions, residential treatment referrals, as well as both detox companion services and sober companions. Rodin holds a Bachelor’s in psychology and is a Nationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Interventionist and the staff includes several other a Certified Intervention Professionals and CADC.

While Rodin’s main focus is helping those suffering with chemical dependency, interventions are also available for those suffering from co-occurring and eating disorders as well as complex mental health issues including psychotic, manic and schizo-affective episodes. Rodin also provides services for female victims of domestic violence and trauma, aiming to help them achieve self-empowerment in their lives.

The Background

Rodin founded Hope Family Interventions in 2008. Prior to that, she worked under the supervision of Ken Seeley at Intervention911. She facilitated over 50 interventions, and had a high success rate. Her desire to work as an interventionist stems from her own recovery, which began in 2005. After more than two decades of addiction, abusive relationships and time served in jail, Rodin entered a residential treatment program and found the help she needed. Following treatment, she moved into WISE Place, an Orange County non-profit that helps homeless women rebuild their lives. Her journey has inspired her to spend her life helping other addicts and their families.

The Approach

Rodin and the staff typically use a surprise model, but Rodin also evaluates each client’s needs on a case-by-case basis. She primarily employs a motivational intervention style, which is designed to enhance any existing motivation for change. It can include family counseling and multiple sessions in certain cases. Elements of the family systems intervention technique are also incorporated as appropriate.

Additionally, Hope Family Interventions offers a unique service called detox companion. This option provides around-the-clock live-in supervision and support through the detox process. This program is designed for clients who refuse to enroll in treatment but who want to detox, as well as for those who have family or work obligations that might prevent them from entering a residential program. It’s also a good choice for those who have experienced relapse and require additional help to get back on track.

Rodin spends between two and three days preparing family for the intervention event as a means to alleviate anxiety, which can be detrimental to all involved. Two family interventionists are employed; one helping the family and the other professional coaching the client. Additionally, the family system model is integrated to avoid clients feeling attacked, which can often happen with direct interventions.

Post-Intervention and Summary

The intervention process as facilitated by Rodin typically lasts about six months and includes residential and outpatient treatment referrals, aftercare and sober coaching. With Jenny Rodin at the helm, Hope Family Interventions offers a comprehensive continuum of care.
