Accommodations and Amenities
Jax Sober Living Recovery Residences has three houses for men, each with an 11-bed capacity, and one house which accommodates seven women. The houses are located in quiet wooded neighborhoods. One of the men’s houses is a quaint bungalow, while the women’s house features a screened rear patio area overlooking greenery, a small pond and woods. Clients are housed in double or triple-occupancy rooms, which include twin or bunk beds, windows and dressers.
The houses include fully equipped kitchens with state of the art appliances, and extra refrigerators. Clients are responsible for their own groceries, and meal preparation. Amenities include transportation, Wi-Fi, cable TV, laundry rooms and swimming pools. Each house includes an onsite residential manager. Smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas only.
Rules and Regulations
Clients must have undergone detox prior to admission, and preferably have completed a residential treatment program. A six-month minimum length of stay is required. Jax Sober Living Recovery Residences is deeply rooted in the 12-steps, and works at helping clients integrate AA principles in their lives. Requirements for residents include being at the weekly house meeting, attending regular 12-step meetings, acquiring and actively working with a sponsor, performing household chores and checking in and out with the house manager when entering or leaving the premises.
While being employed is not a requirement, clients are provided with job coaching, and can look for work. High-risk jobs are not allowed. This includes driving a cab or working in establishments that sell alcohol and drugs. Those requiring aftercare services are encouraged to attend an outpatient program or seek counseling. Residents participate in daily morning meditation meetings, and must attend a weekly Big Book study on Thursday evenings. At Jax Sober Living Recovery Residences, a zero tolerance policy is enforced. Random drug and alcohol screenings are conducted, and residents who have relapsed must leave the premises.
