The Basics

Accommodations and Amenities
The facility is a large brick house with a total of 16 beds; all rooms designed for double occupancy, accommodating up to 32 residents at a time. The home also has a media room, on-site laundry, exercise equipment and common areas with couches and cable television. There are also designated quiet areas with computer desks. Residents prepare their own meals as a part of the recovery program to help develop life-skills and autonomy.
Rules and Regulations
All clients must be at least 18 years old and willing to commit to the program for a minimum of six to nine months. During their stay, residents are subject to random drug testing and are expected to stay busy with a job, volunteering or outpatient addiction treatment. However, some group and individual therapy are offered during residence, as are case management services. Clients are not required to participate in a 12-step program but they are encouraged to attend meetings and work with a sponsor to support their recovery.
There are staff on-site at James Street 24 hours a day, with a team that includes CASACs, CASAC-Trainees, counselor aides, a resident manager and a program director.

Other programs offered through the Syracuse Behavioral Health network include detox, residential and outpatient treatment as well as additional sober living facilities. A company-owned vehicle is available to transport residents to local appointments.
