Isaiah House Recovery Center Review
Isaiah House Recovery Center is a male residential treatment facility located about 45 miles west of Lexington in Willisburg, Kentucky. The facility provides detox services as well as short and long-term recovery programs with aftercare. Treatment combines the use of evidence-based therapy, 12-step meetings and off-site church services. Residents also receive job training to secure employment after graduation.
Accommodations and Food
The facility is an old school building that has been renovated and transformed into a dormitory-style residence. There is space available for 72 men in shared bedrooms equipped with 12 bunk beds in each room. Bathrooms are also shared among men living in the same hall. Clients have access to an on-site weight room, basketball courts and a softball field which they are encouraged to use during weekly free time at 7 pm. The facility’s kitchen staff prepares three hot meals a day, all served in a cafeteria setting. Some meal options include pizza, pasta, salads, and soups.
While in residence, residents are not allowed to have cell phones, electronics, expensive jewelry, or personal vehicles. They are provided with all hygiene products and are asked to bring at least 10 changes of clothes.
Treatment and Staff
Each resident begins treatment with an intake process that includes a medical assessment. From the assessment, an individualized treatment plan can be created. Those in need of detox services are offered a 37-day program that uses a NET device, a technology which applies mild electricity to the brain to alleviate cravings for drugs. Individual counseling and 12-step meetings are included as well.
IHRC offers a short-term program that takes place over the course of 100 days, as well as an 11-month program. In both programs, clients receive individual, group and family and or marital counseling. Use of the NET device may be included as well. Group sessions follow an educational or therapy based approach while addressing issues such as self-esteem, emotions, anger management, healthy relationships and relapse prevention.
There are daily 12-step meetings held on-site. All residents must complete a Celebrate Recovery program before graduating as well. Along with 12-step meetings, clients develop their spiritual practice by attending three off-site church services a week. Once they’ve been in treatment for at least seven days each resident engages in job training through on-site volunteer work. After the first 100 days in treatment, those in the long-term program are encouraged to become employed. They have access to transportation when necessary. IHRC’s staff consists of LADCs, LPCAs, psychologists and an LPC.
Extras
Aftercare is available to all residents who complete treatment. Men who graduate from detox are offered one aftercare visit while those in the 100-day program have access to two. The 11-month program provides three months of aftercare during which clients return to the facility once a month for three days at a time. They can stay on a Friday through Sunday, and engage in a typical daily routine of treatment.
In addition to the residential programs, IHRC has five sober living homes located within walking distance of the facility. Priority is given to those who graduate from IHRC and requires residents to be employed and to pass random drug and alcohol tests. Each home accommodates about three to four men in shared bedrooms.
Comprehensive case management services are also offered, including legal and financial assistance to help adults comply with court orders and fines. Support for medical and education issues are available as well.
In Summary
Isaiah House Recovery Center has well-structured recovery programs with an additional emphasis on aftercare support. Almost all men who attend treatment are employed before graduating. Though the facility is light on support for co-occurring disorders, Isaiah House Recovery Center is still well-suited to those willing to pursue a more spiritual path towards recovery.
