watseka illinoisThe Basics

The Iroquois Mental Health Center is a non-profit, outpatient treatment facility in Watseka, Illinois that has been around since 1971. The organization provides Iroquois County and surrounding counties in Illinois and Indiana care for substance abuse and dual diagnosis issues. Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) as well as standard outpatient tracks are both available for teenagers and adults.

Treatment and Staff

Substance abuse programs include court-ordered DUI classes as well as a combination of individual and group therapy sessions designed specifically for each client’s needs. After the initial assessment, clients usually begin in IOP with the option to step down to less intensive treatment or an aftercare program once initial treatment goals have been met. Programs are available during the day and in the evenings, with treatment plans depending on the individual. Generally, IOP meets three meetings a week for three hours and the standard outpatient program means attending treatment only once a week for an hour or two of group therapy.

Therapy methods range from traditional evidence-based methods like CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to more holistic offerings like expressive therapy as well as art and music therapy. For younger clients, sand play therapy is also available. There are groups that focus on relapse prevention, anger management, coping with stress and parenting skills for the adults while the teen program emphasizes education and early intervention practices. For clients with co-occurring disorders, psychiatric medication management services are offered on-site.

Iroquois Mental Health Center has 31 employees with a range of accreditations including Master’s-level LCSWs, LPCs and LPNs. There’s also an on-staff psychiatrist who works as the clinical director of the facility.

Extras

In addition to the above, some of the counselors can provide therapy in Spanish. Couples and family counseling services are also available, as are some specialty programs including counseling for domestic violence counseling, assistance in communicating with the court system and case management services.

In Summary

Overall, Iroquois Mental Health Center provides its clients with an array of treatment modalities and programs with a good balance of evidence-based care and holistic methods. Those with co-occurring disorders are welcome here as well as those dealing only with substance abuse issues, all receiving individualized treatment. Iroquois Mental Health Center is an affordable, reliable outpatient resource for those seeking help in early recovery.
