Iroquois Center for Human Development is an outpatient mental health and substance abuse facility with programs for adults, adolescents and clients with dual diagnosis. With a main office in Greensburg, Kansas and additional branches in Coldwater, Kinsley and Ashland, the organization offers both offers individual and group therapy services that utilize evidence-based methods of treatment.

Treatment and Staff

Every client at Iroquois Center for Human Development must go through an initial assessment in order to develop a treatment plan customized to their individual recovery needs. Upon beginning treatment, participants generally attend two groups a week for two hours on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings as well as one individual therapy session per week, totaling five hours. As clients continue through treatment they step down to fewer therapy hours, often with just one group session per week and one individual session twice a month. Adolescent treatment is primarily education-based, with special programs designed to coordinate with local schools.

Treatment is not based on the 12-step philosophy though the facility encourages clients to attend community AA/NA or Celebrate Recovery meetings outside of treatment. Both group and one-on-one sessions use CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), exposure therapy, relaxation techniques and stress reducing practices. For clients with co-occurring disorders, there is a psychiatrist on staff who can provide medication management with monthly appointments to monitor progress.

Iroquois has a large staff of over 50 part-time and full-time therapists, RNs, Master’s-level LPCs, LCSWs, medical doctors, psychiatrists, MFTs and case managers.

Extras

Iroquois Center for Human Development offers programs specifically for clients who need to fulfill a class requirement or treatment hours due to a court order. There are also specialty programs for adults and children including family therapy, couples therapy, parenting classes, play therapy for children, vocational rehabilitation and referral services. There is also aftercare available for those who want to have a place to maintain and support their sobriety, which typically entails a once a month group meeting.

In Summary

Overall, Iroquois Center for Human Development provides basic outpatient care with support for those with co-occurring disorders. While 12-step support is not a major part of treatment, a range of evidence-based therapy methods are available to support recovery. For those in the area, Iroquois Center for Human Development provides a network of facilities with low-intensity and affordable treatment for clients of all ages.
