Invictus RetreatInvictus Retreat Review

Founded in 2014, Invictus Retreat is a specialized substance abuse treatment program for men in Delray Beach, Florida. Invictus Retreat provides residential and outpatient programs with extensive dual diagnosis support and trauma-informed care. Invictus Retreat is part of the Aion Recovery group, which also offers specialized treatment programs for women, LGBT clients and first responders at three other residential facilities in the Boynton and Delray Beach areas.

Accommodations and Food

The Invictus Retreat is an updated apartment building in a nice neighborhood. The facility has 16 one-bedroom units surrounding its own private courtyard. The men share a one-bedroom apartment with one other client. There is a fully equipped kitchen in each unit and the residents are expected to shop for their own groceries and prepare meals. Transportation is provided to the grocery store several times a week and help with menu planning and cooking is also available as needed.

Treatment and Staff

The Invictus program is a minimum of 30 days, but clients often stay up to 90 days. Detox is not available on-site, but referrals can be provided; once detox is complete, clients can begin their stay at Invictus. Treatment takes place at the Aion Recovery clinical facility on weekdays, with organized group activities and required community meetings at the residential facility on weekends. Residents have individualized treatment plans that include daily group therapy and on-site 12-step meetings. Groups address a variety of topics designed to meet the needs of men in recovery, like concepts of masculinity and gender identity. Clients learn how restrictive male gender roles can lead to self-destructive behaviors, emotional underdevelopment and unhealthy interpersonal relationships. They also have individual therapy at least twice a week. Visits are allowed from friends and family on weekends with the approval of the client’s primary therapist.

Invictus Retreat provides CBT, DBT, dual diagnosis support and psychological and psychiatric services. Invictus Retreat employs licensed psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, MFTs and registered nurses.

Extras

After completing the inpatient program, clients have the option to continue in the Aion Recovery outpatient programs for another 90 days. After that time, the treatment team helps each client create an aftercare plan. This includes up to 12 months of alumni groups and complimentary therapist check-ins.

There is a family program that includes check-in calls, family therapy (available by video call for those outside the area) and information sessions. Referrals are also provided to family resources like Alanon and Alateen.

In Summary

Invictus Retreat provides a well-rounded residential treatment experience for men facing addiction and co-occurring disorders. With comfortable apartment-style living and only one roommate, the men get ample privacy along with a strong sober community and guidance from their peers throughout their stay.
