Interfaith Medical Center Review
Based out of Brooklyn, New York, Interfaith Medical Center is a multi-faceted non-profit hospital providing a number of medical and behavioral health services to the community including detox, short-term inpatient, outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for chemical dependency and mental health.
Accommodations and Food
The hospital-style facility is equipped with a total of 287 beds; 120 of which are set aside for mental health clients, 20 for detox and 20 for behavioral health. With a fairly clinical atmosphere, clients can expect to share rooms with other residents just as they would at any hospital. All meals are provided by the facility’s cafeteria and features standard American fare.
Treatment and Staff
Detox and short-term inpatient stabilization are available in the Poly-substance Detox Unit. This phase of treatment involves around-the-clock medical supervision and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for up to a week, though lengths of stay are somewhat flexible. There is also an option of an ambulatory methadone maintenance program, where clients who are addicted to opiates are administered medication at the hospital but then return home. Those requiring dual diagnosis care will find Interfaith Medical Center ideal, with clinical care for mental health concerns as well as treatment for chemical dependency.
Once stabilized, clients can transition into the Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program (CDOS) or the PHP, which differ only in the number of treatment hours. Both programs work within the confines of group therapy using CBT, though individual therapy can be scheduled as needed. Educational classes on the dangers of drug abuse, development of social skills and relapse prevention are also part of the programs, as is art therapy. Although not required, clients are encouraged to attend off-site AA/NA meetings during treatment.
Staff consists of doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, RNs, LCSWs, LMSWs and art therapists.
Extras
Aside from behavioral health services, clients in need of dental, gynecological and pediatric care will find the services comprehensive. Additionally, physical rehabilitation—like physical therapy and neuropathic therapies—are also available as is pastoral care and spiritual counseling.

From detox to basic outpatient services, its programs provide plenty of medical supervision and evidenced-based care—laying down a solid foundation for recovery.
