INSPIRA Health Network Review
INSPIRA Health Network is a major healthcare provider with many locations and clinics that has been serving southern New Jersey for over 30 years. Its behavioral health services are offered in Bridgeton and Woodbury and include Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), outpatient with dual diagnosis support, and short-term inpatient programs. All these services are available at both locations with the exception of IOP, which is only available at Bridgeton.
Accommodations and Food
The inpatient clinic at Bridgeton is a newly-built 33-bed unit, while Woodbury has 20 beds. Both locations offer double- and single-occupancy rooms, though singles are limited and only available when necessary. While the meeting rooms, lobby and other public spaces have a clinical atmosphere, the bedrooms are homey, with dark polished-wood furnishings, sufficient storage for personal belongings and plenty of natural light.
Meals are served in the cafeteria and offer a wide range of food choices such as pasta, rice, fish and meat dishes along with a variety of salad options, fruit, breads and beverages. Special dietary concerns can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Because INSPIRA is a clinical facility, treatment tiers are strictly structured and descend in intensity from inpatient to PHP to IOP and outpatient. Inpatient care here is not so much residential treatment, but more of a crisis unit for clients with severe medical issues at intake. A step down from that is PHP, which accepts voluntary as well as court-ordered clients and offers services including evaluation, diagnosis, counseling and special around-the-clock nursing care.
PHP is generally a day-treatment option with medical care comparable to inpatient, though the Bridgeton facility has an additional 17 beds for transitioning clients, when necessary. Participants attend group counseling five hours a day, five days a week. Overall, PHP is designed to stabilize clients before sending them into one of INSPIRA’s outpatient programs.
IOP at Bridgeton offers highly-structured services with a choice of specialized day or afternoon group therapy three hours per day, two or three times a week. The program’s psychotherapy and psychoeducational groups address co-occurring issues, teach coping skills and offer mutual support as clients share their struggles and accomplishments. The outpatient program also accommodates clients with a dual diagnosis through hour-long individual sessions held weekly and bi-weekly, along with psychiatric evaluations and medication management. When necessary, INSPIRA can also offer referrals to short- or long-term care facilities nearby.
The staff at INSPIRA consists of registered nurses, LPNs, licensed vocational nurses and certified nurse assistants, as well as physical therapists, case managers, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. The facility also employs doctors specializing in substance abuse recovery. For group sessions, the staff-to-client ratio ranges from one-to-six to one-to-12.

Free transportation is available to and from the facilities. Visiting hours are from 6:30 to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 12:30 to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday.
