The Basics
Insight Counseling of Tecumseh LLC is an outpatient clinic that specializes in substance abuse treatment, domestic violence support and parenting groups. Chemical dependency groups are available at its facilities in Monroe and Tecumseh, Michigan through two structured programs: a 12-week substance abuse education track and a 15-week relapse prevention group.
Treatment and Staff
The first step for potential clients is to undergo a comprehensive assessment. If it is determined that a more intense level of care is needed than what can be provided at Insight, outside referrals are offered. Medication management and dual diagnosis support are not available.
There are two tracks of treatment at Insight Counseling. The substance abuse education program meets every Tuesday at 6 pm for 12 weeks. Groups are 90 minutes long and focus on teaching clients about the disease model of addiction. Other related topics such as denial, cognitive distortions, relapse prevention, the 12 steps and fetal alcohol syndrome are also discussed. This is a great option for those who may be battling a drinking or drug problem in the early stages of abuse and could greatly benefit from understanding the consequences of their actions.
The relapse prevention and recovery group covers all the material mentioned above with an additional emphasis on identifying relapse triggers. Clients on this track undergo nearly 24 hours of group therapy over a 15-week period. Groups are held on Wednesdays at 11:30 am and 6 pm. Participants in this program are also required to attend weekly off-site AA/NA meetings, find a sponsor and begin working the steps. Individualized treatment plans are also available and may only include one group therapy session a week. Individual therapy can be scheduled as needed.
The team at Insight Counseling consists of CSACs and LMSWs trained in evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT.
Extras
Insight Counseling offers other substance abuse-related services such as a Minor in Possession Program (MIP) that is geared towards underage offenders and consists of six hours of educational and therapy-based groups.
Gender-specific parenting programs, which are 12 weeks long and meet weekly for 90 minutes, are also offered. Topics include anger, repairing and maintaining healthy relationships, role modeling and discipline. Couples counseling is also available.
Court-ordered clients dealing with domestic violence charges have access to a 26-week Family Violence Alternatives Program.
