The Basics
Founded in 1985, Insight Counseling Centers (formerly known as the Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee) is a broad behavioral health organization providing flexible counseling and therapy to clients dealing with mental and behavioral health issues. All care plans are individualized and include support for a spiritual aspect as well. As the former name might suggest, the program is generally Christian-oriented. The organization has facilities in Nashville, Brentwood, Clarksville, Franklin, Hendersonville, Madison and Murfreesboro.
Treatment and Staff
Before each program begins, clients meet with staff counselors and clinicians to determine their needs. As an outpatient-based facility, those in need of detox and medical stabilization can get referrals to nearby programs as necessary. Once stabilized, participants go through a flexible regimen of individual, group and family therapy sessions rooted in evidence-based treatment practices and psychoeducation.
Because all programs are individualized, there is no typical or standard care regimen. Still, support is available for a range of issues including addiction, grief, PTSD, relationship issues, self-image, sexual dysfunction, spiritual issues and basic co-occurring disorders like anxiety and depression. Because the organization is a non-medical facility, those struggling with more severe mental illness may need to seek additional services elsewhere. While 12-step participation is not always required, it may be encouraged in some cases.
The staff at Insight Counseling Centers consists of LCSWs, LMFTs, case managers, pastoral counselors, psychologists and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the issues outlined above, special programs are available for those in need of premarital counseling, senior citizens’ issues and employee assistance programs. Spanish-language counseling services are also provided as necessary. Professional training opportunities and mental health outreach programs are also available.
