The Basics
Insight Choices is Southern California-based network of outpatient treatment facilities caring for clients with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. Insight Choices has several locations throughout Los Angeles and one in nearby Orange County. The offices are in West Hollywood, Downtown (near University of Southern California), West Los Angeles and Newport Beach.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment process at Insight Choices begins with a 90-minute evaluation that helps clients and their clinicians track treatment progress. Treatment focuses on achieving harmony between all aspects of a client’s life: the financial, physical, psychological and spiritual elements. Insight Choices offers care for a variety of mental health and physical complications such as disordered eating, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, ADHD, phobias and substance addiction (including specialized care for those addicted to opiates).
A variety of psychotherapies are also available, both for couples and individuals, including CBT, psychodynamic processing and problem solving therapy. Psychotherapists generally meet with clients weekly for several months and then taper off when the time is right.
Methodologies vary and include Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) as well as traditional psychiatric care. TMS treatment runs a total of six to eight weeks, with daily weekday treatments for the first four to six weeks. Insight Choices uses a state-of-the-art TMS machine that operates using theta bursts and differs from conventional TMS protocols.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone for opiate withdrawal and psychiatric medication management are offered. Insight Choices stresses, however, that by learning to cope with thoughts, feelings and behaviors it can be possible for certain clients to lead a life that is medication-free.
The clinical team is extensive and includes psychiatrists, RNs, RNPs, a NDP, PMHNPs, a PA-C, LMFTs, a Master’s-level LPCC, a licensed acupuncturist and Doctorate and Master’s-level MFTs.
Extras
Insight Choices offers a full range of Chinese and alternative medical treatments including energy work, acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion, infrared lamp treatment, hot packs, cupping, herbal medicine, magnetic therapy, ear seed treatment and diet modifications.
In addition, telepsychiatry is available to California residents with Optum insurance.
