Inneractions Review
Located in the Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills, California, Inneractions is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for men and women with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The facility has been open since August 2013 and welcomes clients seeking treatment for the first time or ones who need continued support after completing an inpatient program, as well as families of alcoholics and addicts. Its individualized treatment plans consist of group and individual therapy with a strong family component and holistic options.
Treatment and Staff
IOP begins with an assessment so that duration and frequency of treatment can be determined. The minimum length of care is 90 days but clients can attend longer if needed. The program consists of group and individual therapy several times a week. Groups are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 am and 2 pm. One-on-one and family sessions are scheduled separately. The number of treatment hours is dependent on the individual plan but typically clients attend for two to three hours at a time.
Inneractions personalized approach to recovery is based on evidence-based practices and incorporates the 12-step philosophy. Therapeutic modalities like DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are employed, as well as psychoeducational sessions. Gender-specific and specialized groups are available, like ones for trauma, chronic relapse and mood disorders. Psychiatric consultations, medication management, psychological testing and EMDR are provided on site, by referral or in conjunction with the client’s regular health care providers.
Inneractions was founded by three women who have a combined 50 years experience in the fields of mental health and addiction recovery. In addition to being MFTs and LCSWs, the founders have worked at Harmony Place, a women’s residential program that specializes in dual diagnosis support. The rest of the staff includes Master’s-level CADCs, MFTs, CSWs and an acupuncturist. Many of the team members are also in recovery.
Extras
All clients are required to attend a multi-family group on the last Friday of the month. A variety of holistic healing group options are available in addition to more traditional therapeutic offerings. These include acupuncture, a mindfulness group, art and drama therapy.
