Inner Peace Review
Founded in March 2015, Inner Peace offers inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment, as well as a sober living extension of stay and ongoing support groups. Inner Peace is located about 500 miles northeast of Cape Town in the town of Fraserburg in the Karoo region of South Africa. Treatment services at Inner Peace employ a holistic treatment model.
Accommodations and Food
The residential branch of Inner Peace is called Thairee Rose Recovery Home. It is located in a quiet community, with a small village feeling that captures the experience of living in Africa. The eight-bedroom co-ed house houses up to 25 residents in groups of up to three of them per room. The home’s shared spaces include a television room, a library and are very comfortable, but not lavish. All food is provided and cooked for the clients and included in the cost of treatment and stay. Meals are served family-style in a large dining room and feature several healthy options. Snacks, coffee and tea are also provided throughout the day.
Treatment and Staff
A residential stay at Inner Peace housing can be as short as 21 days but may extend to up to three months. The staff at Inner Peace focuses its approach on working through the everyday obstacles while staying sober and regaining control of one’s life. Each client getting a completely individualized program, which can include variety of approaches.
A typical day’s schedule may include individual and group therapy utilizing mindfulness, breathing exercises and elements of CBT. Other parts of treatment focus on active, health and wellness related activities like going on walks and hikes, playing tennis or going on excursions. Clients are advised to bring along enough “pocket money” to cover the cost of any outings, additional supplies or extras they may wish to purchase while in treatment.
Outpatient treatment at Inner Peace allows those that are seeking help to maintain regular commitments to family, work and educational responsibilities. Both day and evening programs are available, allowing clients have flexibility in their care. Typically outpatient participants attend one or two group sessions per week for a duration of four to six weeks.
Inner Peace employs a number of licensed clinicians, as well as a therapist who specializes in addiction.
Extras
Inner Peace operates several sober living homes to provide safe and supportive places where people who are dealing with addictions, are able to live and work on their sobriety. These homes provide counseling services and support groups.
In Summary
Only open a little over a year, Inner Peace is still in the process of developing new programs and may offer more intensive care and additional services in the future. The current approach is based on comfort and an overall holistic approach.
