Inner Growth Recovery Review
Founded in 2011 in Tarzana, California, by Max Molavipour, Inner Growth Recovery provides safe and highly structured sober living for men and women. In 2015, Inner Growth Recovery relocated to a 3,000 square foot house that is nestled on a 15,000 square foot property. The new location is also in Tarzana. The house was formulated on the basis that men and women can provide nurturing and support to each other in early sobriety. Molavipour who has 19 years of sobriety is a CADC worked previously at the Tarzana Treatment Center. His unique mission is to help clients achieve emotional sobriety, as well as maintain their physical sobriety.
Accommodations and Amenities
The two-story house includes a paved patio with a table, chairs, potted plants and a huge swimming pool shrouded by trees. Inner Growth Recovery accommodates ten clients, housed in gender-specific rooms. Additionally, the men’s accommodations are in a separate unit. Between two and three clients share wood tiled bedrooms which boast an earth toned modern-style décor and, include twin beds topped with plush comforters, dark wood dressers, night stands and spacious windows.
The house includes a spacious modern-style white walled fully equipped kitchen that has sand colored cabinets and a white ceiling fan. Clients are responsible for their own groceries and meal preparation, and clients rotate, in groups of five, cooking meals for the entire household. Amenities include Wi-Fi, cable TV, a laundry room, a spacious game room with a pool table, built-in barbeque, basketball area, central air conditioning and heat, laundry detergent, soap and paper supplies. A house manager, with nine years of sobriety and with recovery coaching experience, lives on the premises.
Rules and Regulations
Clients on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including Methadone and Suboxone, are admitted on a case-by-case basis. Requirements include attendance at a minimum of three weekly 12-step meetings, acquisition and maintenance of a working relationship with a sponsor, and participation in a productive curriculum, which is conducive to recovery. A beneficial syllabus includes participation in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), enrollment in school, acquisition of a job, or participation in community service.
The curfew is 11 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Inner Growth Recovery practices random drug and alcohol testing. Clients who have relapsed are given a second chance. They are required to attend more 12-step meetings, as well as other requirements, which are allotted on a case-by-case basis. Another relapse results in immediate eviction. Other forbidden behaviors that warrant instant expulsion include sexual relations between clients, violence of any kind, and theft.
Other services besides housing include transportation and life skills development. Since this a sober living home, no treatment is offered on the premises, however, Molavipour’s expertise enables him to capture suspicious behaviors, as well as provide guidance. The house is in close proximity to four drug rehabs, which offer outpatient treatment including the Matrix Institute on Addictions, My New Life Treatment Center, Tarzana Treatment Center and Personal Growth Institute.
Inner Growth Recovery is a member of the Los Angeles County Sober Living Coalition.
While this is a co-ed sober living home, the residents develop relationships like siblings, which provide them with a sense of family and security. Inner Growth Recovery offers clients a wonderful chance to live in a safe sober living environment where the emphasis is on inner healing, peer support and a family-style approach.
